Wagner’s RunWalk will conduct a training program beginning in November for both the half marathon and 5k!  The program will consist of group long runs on Sunday afternoons, classroom instruction on all aspects of running/fitness/healthy lifestyle, as well as guidance on how to complete the half as comfortable as possible. This group of experienced runners will be there to answer any questions that come up. All participants will be given a goody bag with an exclusive “in training” shirt, store specials from Wagner’s RunWalk and many more surprises.

Runners must be able to complete a 5K to be eligible for the half marathon program. Participation will also be limited to the first 100.


$70 for the half marathon.  $50 for the 5k program.

Registration in to the Tuscaloosa Half Marathon and 5k  training program includes:

–16 week program, with 2 weekly group runs (Tuesday and Sunday)

The half marathon training program was a huge contributor to me finishing my first half. I had some injuries and had to take over a month off training, but Ed and everyone in the group kept encouraging me to believe in myself and continue training after it healed. The group runs really make the runs fun. The plan is manageable for people with any level of fitness. No running experience required!

Being a part of the half marathon training group was a fantastic experience. This was my first race of this distance and when I registered, I still wasn't even convinced I could make it to the finish line on race day. This group provided cheerleaders, support, advice and accountability that made all the difference. I did make it to the finish line and feel really good about what I did that day. A big part of having the confidence to do this came out of my time spent with this group.

There was not a day that I did not want to go run. Rain or shine, blistering heat or teeth-chattering winds, we were all out there encouraging each other to push forward. Seeing all of our bright yellow team shirts on March 2 created a magnificent sense of camaraderie for me. I do not believe I would have run as well as I had had it not been for all of my friends from Ed's training program.
